The AXA Chair in Neurosciences and Longevity aims at uncovering the mechanisms underlying the development of higher brain functions, how its alterations can lead to human diseases and how to use this knowledge to design innovative approaches towards brain repair.
The ambitious aims for the Chair will be implemented in the frame of the newly created ULB Neuroscience Institute (UNI), bringing together ULB scientists covering all aspects of brain and mind research, from neurogenetics to cognitive neurosciences, with great potential impact on healthy ageing, prevention, understanding and treatment of brain diseases (including neurodevelopmental autistic syndromes and neurodegenerative diseases such as Alzheimer's and stroke).
