Celebrating Women in Science

On the 7th International Day of Women and Girls in Science, the AXA Research Fund is putting a spotlight on its female researchers who have made significant contributions to science.
Lara Dugas, Gina Ziervogel and Malu Villela Garcia share their experiences as female scientists and encourage young women to pursue a scientific career.
While women make up nearly half of the world's population, only 30% of scientists are women*. This figure shows that gender equality in STEM (science, technology, engineering, and mathematics) is far from being achieved. Committed to promoting women in science, the AXA Research Fund has supported 276 research projects by female scientists, representing 42% of the funded researchers.
Accelerating progress means working towards more representation of women, more recognition of their major achievements in science and research, and more inspiration for young women.
