Shaping the Future of Economics Education

Founded in 2016 by Philippe Nemo, philosopher and president of the "Fondation Lettres et Sciences," and alongside a team of distinguished academics, the École Professorale de Paris (EPP) is dedicated to preparing outstanding secondary school and preparatory class teachers with a strong focus on academic excellence.

The EPP recruits through competitive exams or assessments starting from a Bac +2 level. It prepares students for the national teaching recruitment exams, CAPES, CAFEP-CAPES, and Agrégation. Its part-time instruction is designed to complement university studies.

With a mission to train teachers with a more profound understanding of business and corporate economics, the new economics class to be launched in September 2018, will prepare students annually to successfully pass the CAPES, CAFEP-CAPES, and Agrégation exams in Economics and Social Sciences, to further teach economics in public and private high schools or in preparatory classes. This project is tailored for young graduates from business or engineering schools who wish to dedicate themselves to teaching, or at young teachers who are already teaching economics or social and economic sciences (SES) in high schools but have not yet obtained the CAPES or Agrégation. These candidates will find all the necessary courses, seminars, or lectures on topics useful for students preparing for the written and oral components of the teaching exams at EPP. Beyond exam preparation, the EPP seeks to as well to address broader challenges in teaching of economics in France, which is widely regarded as inadequate.  

Through this partnership, the AXA Research Fund and the École Professorale de Paris are making a vital investment in the future of education. Together, they are fostering a new generation of economics teachers who will inspire students and contribute to a more profound understanding of economics in society, shaping the educators who will empower tomorrow’s leaders.
