Mother AI : Early Detection of Motor Disorders in Children
The motor activity of infants is very characteristic and very homogeneous in the sense that each child in an age group presents movements or sequences of movements that are directly related to his age and characteristic of it. If a discrepancy between these motor skills and the child's age appears, it may be either a simple delay in acquisition, or a sign that an underlying disease is hindering the child's progress. For example, most infectious, metabolic, genetic or neurological diseases will modify this spontaneous motor skills.
This project led by François Jouen and Jean Bergounioux consists of early detection of serious illnesses in children under the age of two, whether acute or chronic, constitutional or acquired, using computer vision. This system will make it possible to analyze the child's spontaneous motor skills very precisely, to recognize whether it is normal, abnormal or if it corresponds to a particular disease. It offers caregivers, wherever they are, an early diagnosis aid that allows the practitioner to be guided towards the right decision and thus better anticipate the risks of developing a severe neuromotor impairment.
