Estimating City Growth, Urbanization and Climate-related Risks in the 21st century
This century will see the merging of two great trends affecting poor countries: climate change and urban population growth. Using new spatial demographic forecasting methods, Prof. Balk’s research aims to create a better understanding of how many urban dwellers will live in the path of climate-related risks, and as precisely as possible, where they are likely to live. This is essential information for evidence-based climate adaptation for countries and international agencies.
