On 24 November 2025, we are proud to announce the launch of the 3rd Call for Proposals under the AXA-Swiss Re Joint Risk Resilience Partnership. This call invites researchers to submit innovative proposals with a duration of 9–18 months that tackle critical challenges in metabolic health and longevity. Selected projects may receive a grant of up to €150,000.
Theme: Behavioral Shifts for Longevity - Matching Individuals to Scalable Metabolic Health Interventions
Human longevity has significantly improved over the past century, but since 2010, mortality improvements have plateaued in many advanced economies due to a surge in lifestyle-driven chronic conditions.
Obesity, diabetes, and insulin resistance are now endemic, with over 1 billion people living with obesity globally as of 2022. These conditions are deeply interconnected through poor metabolic health, which underpins 80% of non-communicable diseases (NCDs) and contributes to over 74% of global deaths.
This call invites researchers to submit proposals that focus on:
Predictive markers for program matching: Using advanced approaches like genomics and metabolomics to better understand individual metabolic profiles and improve intervention success.
Cost-effectiveness of interventions: Evaluating the timing, cost-effectiveness, and combination of therapies like bariatric surgery or emerging pharmacologic drugs (e.g., GLP-1) for individuals with severe metabolic conditions.
Behavioral science for sustained change: Designing interventions tailored to psychological, social, and environmental factors to drive long-term health improvements.
Integration of digital health tools: Leveraging technologies like digital twins and machine learning to refine personalized plans and improve adherence.
Application Details
Applications are open to academic institutions worldwide. Only academic institutions are eligible as direct beneficiaries. Academic institutions may collaborate with public and private sector organizations as associated partners where relevant.
Proposals should demonstrate scientific originality, innovation, and the potential to create a step change in the specified areas.
📅 Application Period: 24 November 2025 – 30 January 2026, 12:00 CET
