SERMERSUAQ is a breathtaking documentary that takes viewers to one of the most remote and fragile corners of the planet — Qaanaaq, Northern Greenland.
Directed by award-winning filmmaker Patrizia Bruno, the film produced with the support of the AXA Research Fund follows the NEOARCTIC scientific campaign led by the University of Barcelona.
It offers a rare and deeply personal perspective on the human and environmental impacts of climate change in the Arctic.
Through the intertwined stories of Professor Marc Oliva, a polar climate scientist supported by the AXA Research Fund and Michael Jensen, an Inuit hunter, SERMERSUAQ bridges the gap between science and society.

Michael’s life, rooted in Inuit traditions, and Marc’s cutting-edge climate research may seem worlds apart, but they share a common mission: to protect the Sermersuaq, Greenland’s vast and vital ice sheet, a critical sentinel of our planet’s climate health.
With unparalleled access to Inuit communities and pioneering scientific efforts, the film reveals the reality beneath the data, amplifying voices too often unheard. It’s a story of resilience, tradition, and knowledge, lived and shared by those on the frontlines of environmental change.
Join us in exploring this extraordinary story of climate resilience and the fight to preserve one of the planet’s most critical ecosystems.
