2024 Activity Report: A Year of Advocacy and Scientific Progress

The AXA Research Fund is proud to present its 2024 Activity Report, showcasing a year marked by significant strides in supporting independent science and addressing some of the most pressing challenges of our time.
2024 has been pivotal year for the scientific community, as it faced mounting challenges, including the rise of anti-science narratives, the acceleration of misinformation and a decline in funding for critical research areas such as climate change and inclusion. In response, we have strengthened our efforts to defend and advocate for science.
Among the notable achievements highlighted in the report are:
Funding two new AXA Chairs at the Intersection of Climate and Health: In 2024, the Fund had selected two outstanding projects that address fundamental issues for the future of human health: Food Safety in a Changing Climate and Preventing Invasive Salmonella Disease in Children
Launch of a Postdoctoral Fellowship on Countering Misinformation in the Digital Age: Seven exceptional young scientists from multidisciplinary backgrounds have been selected to address societal threats posed by AI misuse, aiming to restore trust and combat misinformation.
Advocacy for Science: In addition to supporting and valorising independent research, we embraced a new advocacy mission in 2024, leveraging our network, funding, and communication capabilities to promote respect for and importance of science in society. This includes forming coalitions, participating in global events such as the Paris-Saclay Summit and the Paris Peace Forum, and launching a Pledge for Science campaign.
We invite you to explore the full 2024 Activity Report to learn more about our impactful initiatives and commitment to fostering a future where independent science thrives and helps tackle the challenges of our time through evidence-based actions and fruitful dialogue.
