Virtual Quantum Tour

Quantum Physics is expected to revolutionize future technology, but its impact remains largely unknown to the public, and there is a shortage of well-trained professionals. Therefore, innovative and engaging platforms are needed to introduce this field to a broad audience, particularly younger generations.

This project aimed to address the low visibility and limited understanding of Quantum Physics among the general public, especially younger generations, by creating an engaging, multilingual online platform—the Quantum Virtual Tour (QVT). The platform supports the dissemination of Prof. Antonio Acín’s work, underpinning his AXA Research Chair, and provides a tool for research and educational institutions to communicate the importance and potential of Quantum Physics and Quantum Information Technologies. It offers an immersive experience designed to bring quantum science closer to society, highlighting its role in shaping future technologies and impacting everyday life. The platform aims to foster greater interest in physics, serve as a free educational resource for teachers, and enhance public awareness of quantum applications, ultimately promoting science and technology as drivers of societal progress and opportunity.

The QVT is an online interactive platform for computers, tablets and smartphones. The platform uses a 360° technology that provides the sensation of being inside the laboratory, which will serve as the launching site of the platform. From there, the visitor will be able to freely move within the laboratory and approach elements that drag its attention. It will contain a virtual recreation of a Quantum Laboratory that will allow the visitor to zoom in and out and internet with devices in the laboratory triggering pills of educational videos, further explanations or pills of interesting information. The QVT is a freely accessible platform in English, Spanish and Catalan that includes a system to help track the profile of the visitor and a system to collect feedback.
